The David Bohnett Cyber Center is a 10-terminal computer lab adjacent to the Front Desk at The Center on Centre Street. The Hillcrest Youth Center (HYC) also houses a sister computer lab available for youth ages 14-20. New computers at HYC have been generously donated by the Waitt Family Foundation and the David Bohnett Foundation. This discussion group often uses media clips, movies, and art projects to facilitate discussion about issues facing the transgender youth community. Makes immune system stronger,brings joy into life, increases mental and physical strength, teaches living in the moment, brings self-discipline and allows knowledge of the self. Instructor is Himanshu (Hari) Kapoor, he has been teaching yoga for 13 years in hospitals, Drug and Alcohol Rehab and Prison projects. He wishes to extend this knowledge as a means of achieving physical , mental and spirtiutal well-being and self-realization.

Talking about TINA is a group for men who use crystal methamphetamine. Through the group setting, we offer a safe and nonjudgmental space to talk about ambivalence related to meth use, relationships, community norms, health issues, sex, and past and present struggles with drug use. The group also includes education and skill-building training that focus on strategies to limit the harm associated with drug use, identify triggers, prevent relapse, increase positive supports, and improve sexual health. The Tuesday group if for men who are HIV positive. Another group for men who are HIV negative or don't know their status meets on Wednesday evenings.
Project OUT-Reach is an in-person campaign that puts a face to the issue every single Saturday.

Project OUT-Reach – a project where we are going into the areas around San Diego County where we lost Prop 8 looking for new supporters while educating the community about what's happening around the issue of marriage equality and getting them involved in the next steps towards equality. Even by starting right now, we have less than two years to change the hearts and minds of 250,000 + 1 Californians by using earned media, demonstrations, public outreach and education. To be successful we cannot just organize in areas that are supportive. We must also reach out to communities that have not traditionally been our allies in this fight to bridge the gap in understanding. We will have conversations with people, both at their doors and in busy public spaces to raise consciousness about the issue as well as funds for the cause. We will keep our community energized and engaged as activists, fighting to win back our fundamental right to marry.

The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is thrilled to announce a new weekly women's discussion group geared specifically towards lesbian, bisexual and transgender women of color. This group will be faciliated by dynamic host, Danyeil Woods. and will meet downstairs at The Center (3909 Centre St. Hillcrest) in the Latino Services room.
UCSD's AVRC and San Diego County Health have partnered with the LGBT Community Center to provide free & confidential HIV testing at the main Centre St. facility. Available testing slots each day are first come, first served (no appointments taken.) Testing hours are:
MONDAY - 9AM to 2:00PM (SDCH - rapid test)
TUESDAY - 9AM to 3:15PM (UCSD AVRC - rapid & early tests)
WEDNESDAY - 9AM to 2:00PM (SDCH - rapid test)
THURSDAY - 9AM to 3:15PM (UCSD AVRC - rapid & early tests)

If you knit, crochet, weave, spin, stitch, or play with yarn and thread in any way, drop on by on Thursday evenings at 5:30 at Needlecraft Cottage, 870 Grand Ave. in PB. If you are interested in learning about these hobbies, come on by! These are great ways to pass time and make cool stuff, and has been shown to be relaxing to do yet keep the mind active and alert. The Heart-Spirit Circle
The Heart-Spirit Circle is a gathering for spiritual activity. The intent of the evening is to provide a time and place to come together with others of like mind and explore the spiritual side of life. This is an opportunity to journey into the deeper recesses of our heart and soul. The tools of the evening will include meditation, guided visualization, voluntary sharing, and journaling. The evening will include discussion on basic meditation techniques as a spiritual tool for expanding consciousness. All levels of interest are welcome. Be sure to bring a journal. We know that we have hundreds of thousands of minds to change to build more support for marriage for same-sex couples. To change the hearts and minds of our neighbors here in San Diego, we're going door-to-door talking with people about their stance on marriage. About 20% of the people we talk to become more supportive of marriage for same-sex couples, especially after we share personal stories with them of real people that were hurt by Prop 8. We just need more people to join our canvassing team to share more stories! Join us at 2pm for a great training to prepare you to have great, persuasive conversations, get paired up with a buddy, and come back for some dinner! Help us change the hearts and minds of our neighbors before the opposition closes their minds.

Joshua Millerd of Hillcrest was severely injured on the night of September 6th when he attempted to intervene in a physical altercation outside of a Hillcrest apartment. In an attempt to help a woman get away from a man who was about to harm her, Josh was pushed backwards down a flight of concrete stairs and was left to be found an hour later. Josh was pushed as soon as it came out that he is gay.
Josh's injuries included a broken radius, broken ulna, broken scapula, three broken ribs, broken wrist, and two breaks in his pelvis. His arm now has two metal plates in it, and the severe tendon and nerve damage in his arm has resulted in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which could take up to a full year to recover from. He spent four days in the trauma unit at Scripps Mercy and nine days at Scripps Mercy Rehabilitation Center in Encinitas. Once he was able to come home, Josh spent almost seven weeks confined to a wheelchair, and is only now starting to be able to walk short distances around his house. It could be at least another 1-2 months before he can go back to work.
The bill for only his first day in the trauma unit was for $90,000 with a $2,000 copay; most of his other bills have yet to arrive. Insurance did not cover accommodations he needed for his home like a wheelchair ramp and modifications to his shower. Not only has his recovery been long and slow, paying for his treatment will be incredibly difficult. In order to help with his health care costs, Josh's family has sent up a fund in his name at California Coast Credit Union. Proceeds from this event, including donations at the door and all jello shot sales, will go directly to the Joshua R. Millerd Fund.
Entertainment will include house/techno DJs: Dr. Indulgent, Jon Doss & Charley Ten. $2 well drinks until 9 p.m., $2 jello shots all night (with all proceeds going to the Joshua Millerd Fund).
